Indications for Bariatric Surgery
- The surgery is recommended for obese people with a body mass index (BMI) from 40 kilograms/square meter.
- Or for those people with a body mass index (BMI) at least 35 kilograms/square meter and serious coexisting medical condition such as diabetes, cardiac problem, hypertension, sleep apnea or joint pains due to obesity
Note: The BMI is defined as the body mass divided by the square of body height, and is universally expressed in units of kg/m², resulting from mass in kilogram and height in meters.
