Botox Injection


   Botox is used cosmetically to reduce the appearance of facial fine lines and wrinkles. Results are impressive and give you a boost of confidence. Botox is neurotoxin derived from Clostridium botulinum bacteria, an organism found in the natural environment where it is largely inactive and non - toxin. The injection can be done quickly, require no recovery time, and are not as complicated as many other cosmetic procedures for the face. Following the Botox injection, the muscle is weaken or paralyzed then smooth and eliminates wrinkles, leaving a youthful appearance.

Preparation

   Stop taking medication that can thin the blood 1 week before botox injections, such as vitamin C, fish oil, chanko and gingko

Procedure

   The doctor will use thin needle to inject tiny amounts of botulinum toxin into your skin or muscle. In some cases, the doctor will apply a cool pack or anesthetic on the area before injection.

Suggestion

  • Avoid lying down, four hours after injection.
  • Avoid lying down and rub or massage on the treated area for 6-8 hours. Patients can carefully apply makeup after treatment; however avoid putting any pressure on and around the injected area.
  • If swelling or bruising appear, patients can apply a cool pack on the area for the first 1-2 days after injection.
  • Try moving the muscles at the treatment area 1 - 2 hours after injection, to distribute the Botox throughout the muscle in the area.
  • Wait for the swelling from injection to disappear within 2 - 3 hours.
